Rectangular Diagonal Afghan Knitting Pattern

This knitting pattern is knit diagonally and has a nice edge. You can knit it any width or length with any yarn that is appropriate to the size of the needles.

Instructions:
CO 4 sts.

Rows 1-3:
k
Row 4:
k1, k into the front and back of the next two sts, k1-6 sts
Row 5:
sl1, k2, yo, k rem sts Rep Row 5 until piece is desired width. sl1, k rem sts You will have a triangle and will now be turning one corner. Row 1: sl1, k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k rem sts
Row 2:
sl1, k2, yo, k rem sts Rep Rows 1 and 2 until piece is desired length. Now you will turn both corners and complete the rectangle. Row 1: sl1, k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k rem sts Rep Row 1 until 5 sts rem.

There are many variations possible with this pattern. You can knit any number of rows you wish between working row 1. You could also space the eyelets differently by alternating row 1 as written with k2, yo, k2tog, k5, ending k2, yo, k2tog, k2. This is a quick and easy reversible baby afghan pattern. Gauge isn't important but for correct width use size 9 (US) needles and worsted weight yarn.

Instructions:

Cast on 123 st.
K 10 rows for border.

Row 1: *K7, YO, K2 tog; repeat from * to last 6 st, K6
Rows 2, 3, 4 & 5: K Repeat these 5 rows until desired length. K 6 rows for the finishing border.

This baby blanket features interlocked hearts in knit and purl with a garter stitch border. It is totally reversible.

Size:
Approximately 27 x 37 inches

Materials:
400 grams/940 yards worsted weight yarn
Size 8 US (5 mm) circular needles at least 24 inches long
Size 10½ (6.5 mm) circular needles at least 24 inches long

Gauge:
17 sts=4 inches over pattern stitch with larger needles

Instructions Note: CO enough sts to have 5 stitches at either side of blanket in garter stitch and enough pattern stitches to equal approximately 27 inches in width total. The pattern repeat is a multiple of 12 stitches plus 9. Using smaller needles, CO 115 sts.
Work 9 rows (5 ridges) in garter stitch (knit every row). The piece should measure about 1¼ inches.
Change to larger needles and work as follows; the first and last five stitches are done in garter stitch: Row 1 (RS): K5, P4, K1, *P11, K1; rep from * across, end P4, K5

Variations
Knit this blanket in two colors by knitting one complete pattern in one color and the second in a contrasting color. Or knit two repeats of the complete pattern and then a band with a different color, one pattern of main color and then a second band of contrasting color. Then do the same at the other end of the blanket. Use k1, p1 ribbing or seed stitch instead of moss stitch.

Materials:
Approximately 16 ounces of heavy worsted or bulky weight yarn Size 10 US (6 mm) needles (gauge not vital)

Instructions:
CO 126 st or any multiple of 4 plus 2 (which are selvedge stitches knit in garter stitch). Row 1: K1. Insert needle into next stitch as if to knit. Wind yarn around needle three times (as if you were making three yo's). Complete the stitch by knitting it. Rep across, end k1. Row 2: K1. Remove loops off left needle for one stitch and place the resulting large stitch on right needle. Rep three more times. You'll have four large stitches on right needle. Transfer them back to left needle and knit, purl, knit, purl into all 4 stitches tog. Rep across, end k1. Row 3: Knit Row 4: Knit Rep Rows 1-4 until desired length. BO.
Finishing:
Crochet a border of your choice around the blanket. You can also knit an edging and sew it on.

Instructions
