Trinity Stitch Headband


This Trinity Stitch Headband is a really quick and easy knit, perfect for both summer wearing and summer knitting. It's sure to keep your hair off your face in hot or windy situations, and it allows you to wear something knit even on the hottest days.

Materials:

* about 40 yards light-weight cotton or cotton blend yarn (I used Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere in color Taupe)
* one pair size 5 US needles
* scissors
* yarn needle

Gauge:

24 stitches per inch (6 stitches per inch) in pattern. Gauge is not critical.
Size:

Finished headband is 2 inches wide and 21 inches around. To fit an average-sized woman.

Instructions:

1. Cast on 12 stitches.
2. Work in Trinity Stitch, as below, until piece measures about 21 inches.
3. Bind off on one of the purl rows.
4. Cut yarn, leaving a tail of several inches. Use the tail to sew the cast on and bind off edges together.

Trinity Stitch

Row 1 (right side): Purl.

Row 2: *(Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1) all in the same stitch, purl 3 together. Repeat from * across.

Row 3: Purl.

Row 4: *Purl 3 together, (knit 1, purl 1, knit 1) all in the same stitch. Repeat from * across.
