NOTES:

1. Afghan is worked in one piece with a Seed st border on each of the 4 sides of the Afghan. Beginning with the Set-up Row, you will be working the first and last 5 sts of the Afghan in Seed st (for the side borders) and the center 85 sts in the Lace Pattern.
2. The Lace Pattern used in this Afghan requires that you keep track of your sts and of which row you are working on. In Row 1, we will tell you where to place st markers so that there are 12 sts between each set of markers. As you work each RS row, count your sts every time you come to a marker. You should have 12 sts between markers on every row. If you do not have 12 sts, examine each st in your last rep and make any needed fixes (unravel st by st to make corrections) before continuing with the row.
3. Use a row counter to keep track of which rows of the 20-row Lace Pattern you have worked.
4. Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.

AFGHAN
Cast on 95 sts. Work 6 rows in Seed st for beginning border.
Set-up Row: Work in Seed st as established over first 5 sts (for side border), p to last 5 sts, work last 5 sts in Seed st (for side border).
Begin Lace Pattern
Row 1: Work in Seed st as established over first 5 sts, place a marker (pm), work Row 1 of Lace Pattern over next 84 sts as follows: k1, * pm, yo, ssk, k7, k2tog, yo, k1, rep from * to last 5 sts, pm, work last 5 sts in Seed st as established. At the end of Row 1, you will have 7 reps of Row 1 of the Lace Pattern — each rep is defined by the markers. You should have 12 sts on your needle within each of these 7 reps.
Continue as established, keeping first and last 5 sts in Seed st (for side borders) and working Lace Pattern Rows 1-20 over center 85 sts, until 8 reps of Rows 1-20 of Lace Pattern have been completed and counting your sts across every RS row. Work 6 rows in Seed st for border at remaining end. Bind off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.
