LACE - Fashion Trend 2011. How to wear lace.

How To Wear Lace...
Lace is very womanly  and it never really goes out of fashion, as lace clothing can be found among chain- store clothing rails throughout the year. Lace will become a popular fashion, and featured in many clothing shopes. When it's not so popular, lace becomes a classic and still remains in the fashion market.

Lace clothing gives a chic look, and can look beautiful without exertion.`But there's a few risks in wearing lace clothing, for example you can look too Gothic.

How you should wear lace.
You should avoid wearing jewelery with lace, as this will probably look over the top. Wear it with minimum jewelery. If you choose wearing lace wear it with stud earrings, or a gold bangle. Pearls are not good with lace.

Go for fine lace, rather than large chunky patterns. On the subject of hems, another one to avoid is a jagged, uneven cut. Medieval like fashion looks very silly on most people!

Never wear white stockings, unless your going to a dress-up party! Black lace stockings are hot with skirts in winter, but don't ever wear them with a denim skirt. Denim skirt plus black lace stockings is running the risk of looking trailer-trash. Avoid bright coloured skirts too. Black stockings will always go best with a black skirt. If your wear black stockings with a black skirt, go for a different coloured top, to avoid looking Gothic.

Lace panels on clothing is a good alternative to full lace garments.

If a clothing item is made completely of lace, wear it down with simple clothing. Plain, bold colours are good, all colours go with black, but brown. It's not really a good look to wear lace with clothing that is patterned or printed.

Be careful about wearing denim with lace. A garment with minimal lace, and particularly white lace, goes great with denim. But don't take it any further, like wearing a top made of completely lace, with a pair of jeans. It's a sort of stereotypical look, that doesn't look that nice.

Sheffield Bloggers Weekend!

So, here it is! The eagerly awaited Sheffield Bloggers Meet up Weekender post!

And what a weekend it has been. I have genuinely met some really amazing people and the best thing was -they were all just a little bit crackers, like me! Ha ha.

Saturday morning, I stood in the Sheffield Train station twiddling my thumbs whilst awaiting the arrival of all the Bloggers/YouTubers. I was quickly greeted by the lovely Helen, closely followed by the ever so stylish Kate. Whilst waiting for the others to arrive, we decided to jump in the queue for the coffee shop and purchase a quick hot beverage, before the stunning Maxine decided to pop up from behind us! It wasn't long before we caught sight of a very excited looking Emily too!

We all stood and had a little chat together, and it wasn't long before the rest followed along after; the Geordie comedy legend Haidee, fellow Geordies Bryden & Claire, the quirky & edgy Chloe, the fellow red head Nicoletta, the preppy chic Lizzy, the friendly and fun Claire and finally, the beautiful Dionne.

I headed for the nearest trustworthy old lady and politely asked that she take our photo. Bless her, she cut Helen and Bryden out of the shot. Camera Fail.

We headed straight for the local Yates' bar for some lunch and cocktails. Never too early for a cocktail pitcher between Bloggers now is it? Ha ha.

After filling our tummies with some yummy grub, and consuming vast quantities of 'Woo Woo' and 'Cheeky Vimtos', I decided to get the little giveaway going which I had prepared. The giveaway consisted of three prizes.

I wrote all of our lovely Ladies names on to pieces of paper and threw them into Chloe's kindly donated hat.

Out comes the names!

1st Prize = Maxine
2nd Prize = Haidee
3rd Prize = Nicoletta

The prizes consisted of makeup and skin products. Well done girls!

Prior to the meet up, I was contacted by the ever-so talented author Bethanie Lunn, who kindly sent out a copy of her book 'The Modern Girl's Guide to Fabulousness' for me to read and review. I'm really looking forward to getting into it! She also very generously sent out some lipsticks for us all to try out.
I really urge you all to go and check out her website http://www.bethanielunn.com/

Thank you Bethanie!

Here we have it; a group shot with us all in! Although slightly blurry. Hmm.

After a day filled with lots of cocktails, chatterboxing and laughing until it hurt, we all headed back to get our glad rags on for the night out.

Emily kindly invited us all back to her flat for a few pre-town drinks. We were then joined by the utterly stunning Kavita. I've always loved her blog - as she has some really inspirational outfit posts.

What time is it? Wine'O'clock.

The night wouldn't be complete without a human pyramid.

We were also joined by Cat and Briony.

I just want to thank all the girls who attended. You really made the weekend a brilliant one! I'll hopefully see you all again very soon - as I'm 100% certain I'm going to be organising another Bloggers Meet Up in the Summer. Hopefully then, many more of you who couldn't attend this time will be able to come along.

I hope you've all enjoyed reading this post as much as I have writing it.

Big Hair Styles

In case you were wondering, the big, full, long and layered hair style hasn't gone anywhere.  Cheryl Cole recently was seen with this very glamorous style.

Create this style on your own by first applying a volumizing hair product and/or a root volumizer product to damp hair.  Blow dry the hair using a large round brush. Direct all layers down and under.

When the hair is completely dry, add soft waves throughout using a medium barrel curling iron or hot rollers.  To finish off the style and create the height in the crown area, take small sections of hair and gently back comb them and smooth over the top with your fingers.

Project Nail Art: Lauren Conrad Inspired Leopard Nails

I recently saw that the very beautiful Lauren Conrad had tweeted a photo of her amazing leopard print nails. Feeling rather inspired after seeing this photo - I decided to give it a go myself.

Topshop - Mannequin

Unfortunately, I wish I'd have taken a photo of my nails the day I actually painted them. Instead, I left them two days before taking a photo - which is why they're looking little a tatty. Bad times. But, you pretty much get the gist.

In other 'Project Nail Art' news - I've really gotten into the whole nail art thing. Regularly painting my nails in adventurous quirky ways. Strangers often comment on my nails as of late. I can't wait to show you the other masterpieces I've painted on my pretty pollys.

How much does your face cost?

I was inspired to do this post by the lovely Charlotte over at her wonderful blog, Charlotte's Obsessions. She dived into a very interesting factor, which to be honest I'd not really given much thought to until reading her post. Plus, with me doing my 30day Shopping Ban, it really dawned on me just how much money I do spend on rubbish.

The whole reason behind this blog post is to see just how much your face does cost. Charlotte did hers by adding up how much all the products in her everyday make-up bag cost.

(Images from We Heart It)

What I am looking to do is add up the expense of how much products/makeup I use on my face for a night out. In the day time I don't really tend to wear all that much, it's pretty much caked on my face for a night out on the town - hence why I decided to price up my night time face.

OK, *deep breath* here goes;

♥ ST Tropez bronzing mousse - £25.00
♥ Avon Complete Balance face cream - £5.00
♥ Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation - £30.00
♥ Lancome concealer - £20
♥ MAC MSF Medium + powder - £20.50
♥ MAC Bronzing Powder - £17.50
♥ MAC powder blush - £17.00
♥ Rimmel eyebrow pencil - £2.99
♥ Rimmel liquid eyeliner - £6.99
♥ MAC eye kohl - £13.00
♥ Maybelline Colossol Mascara - £6.99
♥ Three MAC eye shadows (refill pans) - £9.50 each x3 = £28.50
♥ MAC Lipstick - £13.50
♥ Vaseline - £1.00

Total = £207.97

YIKES!!!!

That is a lot of money! Obviously, this is the price of the products I use, and I get a good amount of use out of each item - but still, wow! It's never really dawned on my just how much I do spend.

I'd love you do all have a go at doing this post. How much does your face cost on an average night out? Link me below.

Chain Reaction

I feel a little 'Biker-chic' in this outfit. I'm not entirely sure if I'm overly keen on it. But, hey ho! It was just something I threw on quickly with very little planning. I was all ready to meet my friend for a good old pub tea. Show me the Bacon Carbonara! Mmmmm.. Not to forget the Belgium Waffle drizzled in chocolate sauce for pudding.

Head scarf - Lush
Leather jacket with faux fur - New Look
Striped Tee - Miss Selfridge
Military trousers - H&M
Rope necklace - Primark

I do apologise for the potentially rushed outfit post today. I'm just in the middle of emailing/organising more of the upcoming Sheffield Bloggers Event. If anybody would like to attend, all the info is posted in my blog. Or you can email me directly - just check my contact page for my email address.

Only 10days to go!

Project Nail Art: Marble Nails

I've decided to take up a new little past time hobby. I've always loved painted my nails all different lovely colours, but when it comes to nail art, I've pretty much steered clear. I've kind of been happy just browsing at other peoples art work, and left all the 'handy work' to the professionals. (Rubbish joke alert!)

However, the other weekend, I was exceptionally bored and decided to give nail marbling a go. I've seen it around the internet before, decided to look up a tutorial on YouTube and give it a go myself.

It's quite a messy job and it was only my first attempt. On the close up photos they do look rather shoddy around the edges - but, like I said, it was my first time. I'm now happy to say I've popped my nail art cherry and should hopefully be doing more designs soon.

The colours I decided to use were; Pink, Black and White.

Here's the end result.

And here are some pretty pictures of some colour experimenting I was doing.

If you fancy a go at nail marbling, the tutorial I used was this one. She is truly a very talented lady!

I'd love to see your designs!

Blueberry Compote

The weather in England has really been a bit hit and miss as of late. The sunshine can never seem to make its mind up whether it fancies making an appearance or just being down right lazy and hiding away. Nine times out of ten, it tends to be the latter.

There has been many of mornings I've woken up and not had a clue what to wear. When the sun has been out, so I've worn something a little cooler, only to go out, the sun then decides to go back to bed - leaving me shivering and scantily clad. Weather fail.

Primark are currently stocking these lovely chunky knit cardigans. I bought mine a couple of months ago and have been wearing it ever since! It's great to wear on these 'not-so-sure-about-the-weather' days, with it being warm enough to snuggle up in, but it's also easily enough to fold up and pop into your handbag if it gets a little warmer.

They do quite a few lovely seasonal colours. My sister picked up the camel coloured cardigan, and I went with the navy blue...

Navy Cardigan - Primark
Tee - All Saints
Cream leggings - River Island
Necklaces - (clock) Dorothy Perkins (stag) Matalan
Ring - ASOS

What are your fail-safe items in this weird and wonderful weather we're having?
